We reopened our doors in the fall after the COVID shutdown, and the laughter and joy flowed once again at our little school. Our time away made it very clear that we were in the right place; we love what we are doing at Ziji and who we are doing it with.

We put a lot of thought into making sure we felt like we could do in-school learning safely while maintaining our school’s integrity. With our small size and faculty, we managed in-school learning. We are very lucky that we do not need to navigate the COVID challenges that come with a larger school and community. Obviously, the world is very different right now, and schooling looks different as well, but our emphasis on relationship, connection, play, and whole child learning will still be the heart of what we do at Ziji.

We work with BCHP to create an environment and practices that follow current guidelines and recommendations. Here is our basic COVID plan

  • When required by BCPH, the children and teachers wear masks indoors.

  • Increased hand washing and sanitizing of high use surfaces

  • Daily health screenings for teachers and children

  • Optional weekly testing for children

  • Minimal contact drop offs and pickups.

  • During seated activities, meals, etc., we have established distance between the children.

  • Communication system for symptoms or positive COVID 19 cases

  • To have in school learning for as long as it is permitted by the state and county and our community feels safe.

  • Online and at home learning for all students in the case we must shut down. Similar to the Spring of 2020 with our At Home Learning, we will strive to maintain our connections and Ziji philosophy. We will return to Ziji in a Bag with online platforms and meetings with teachers to individually support both parents and children.
